Longtime Board Member Retires and New Members Named to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System Boards - 3/30/2005

Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System recently honored retiree, Joe Hatfield, and named new Medical Center, Health System and Health Partners board members.

The Board of Trustees of Northeast Georgia Health System recognized Joe Hatfield with a resolution in honor of his community dedication demonstrated by his leadership and volunteer service to the Hospital Authority of Hall County, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board and Northeast Georgia Health System Board that spanned more than two decades. In addition to serving as chair of the Health System Board from 1992-1995, Hatfield served on and chaired numerous committees within the Board structure.

In addition, Hatfield served on the Corporate Reorganization Committee in 1984, contributing to the restructuring plan which incorporated and organized Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc., Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc., and Northeast Georgia Health Resources, Inc., to provide and support a broad array of existing healthcare services and to implement new services including rehabilitation services, hospice programs, nursing homes and wellness programs in order to meet the increasing healthcare needs of the residents of northeast Georgia.

Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. Board

Mary Lynn Coyle has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. Board. She has served on the Brenau University Board of Advisors and is a former chairman of the Lanier Park Hospital Board of Trustees. She chaired the first Marketplace sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary in 1992. Coyle lives in Gainesville with her husband, John.

Dr. Gwen Mundy has also been elected to the Northeast Georgia Health Systems, Inc. Board. Dr. Mundy is a member of the Board of Trustees of Brenau University and a member of the Advisory Board of Elachee Nature Center. She is also a member and a former president of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Georgia History Center. In addition, Dr. Mundy has served as the chair of the Quality and Performance Improvement Committee of the Medical Center Board. She is retired from the Hall County School System and lives in Gainesville with her husband, Ben.

R.K. Whitehead also has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. Board. Whitehead is president of Whitehead Die Casting Company. He has served the Quinlan Visual Art Center as chairman of its Board of Trustees. In addition, Whitehead serves on boards for North House, Elachee Nature Science Center and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Gainesville with his wife, Laura, and their four children.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc.

Carson Agee, MD, has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board. Dr. Agee is surgeon with Gainesville Surgical Associates. He serves as the chairman of the Medical Centerís Operating Room Committee and is the medical director of Peri-Operative Services at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Prior to practicing in Gainesville, Dr. Agee practiced general, vascular and trauma surgery at St. Johnís Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. He lives in Gainesville with his wife, Elizabeth, and their five children.

Doug Carter also has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc. Board. Carter is president of Don Carter Reality Co., a real estate development and sales company. He serves on the Board of Directors for Gainesville Bank & Trust and is a member of the Gainesville Rotary Club. Carter is a former chairman of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. He also has served on the Strategic Planning Committee of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board. Carter lives in Gainesville with his wife, Sandy, and their two children.

Casey Graybeal, MD, also has been appointed to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Board. Dr. Graybeal is a surgeon with Northeast Georgia Surgical Associates in Gainesville. Dr. Graybeal is the current Chief-of-Staff at NGMC, and previously served as Vice Chief-of-Staff and Secretary/Treasurer. From 2001 to 2003, Dr. Graybeal served as The Medical Centerís cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons. Prior to moving to Gainesville, Dr. Graybeal practiced general, vascular and thoracic surgery in Milford, Del. He is married to Susan Graybeal and has three children.

John Prien, Jr., P.E., J.D., also has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Inc. Board. Prien is a retired civil and environmental consultant. He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Nebraska, Florida and Georgia. He served as Regional Vice President of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) for the Southeast Region from 1990 to 1992. Prien is also currently a trustee of the Northeast Georgia Hospital Authority and Vice-chairman of the Hall County Republican Party. He lives in Gainesville with his wife, Joanne, and they have three children.

Northeast Georgia Health Partners, LLC.

Alex Wayne has been elected to the Northeast Georgia Health Partners, LLC Board. Wayne is a partner with Wayne Trading Company, a real estate investment holding company, and Radial Property Group, a real estate development, brokerage and management firm located in Flowery Branch. He has served on the executive committee of the Gainesville College Foundation and on the Georgia State University Real Estate Board of Directors. Wayne has also served on the Northeast Georgia Health System Community Advisory Board. He lives in Flowery Branch with his wife, Shannan, and their three children.
