Emergency Services
Emergency services are offered at both the Main Campus and Lanier Park Campus of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the emergency rooms serve the trauma care needs of the regional community.

Highly qualified, board certified emergency medicine physicians provide 24-hour coverage at both campuses, and the use of a physician on-call list insures the availability of additional specialists as needed. The Medical Center’s emergency care is supported by county-owned and operated emergency medical services.

The Main Campus emergency room houses 44 beds including 14 trauma beds (including two major trauma rooms) and nine “fast track” beds available from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. to expedite patient care for less critical situations. In 2007, the Main Campus emergency room served more than 81,000 patients.

The Main Campus also has eight chest pain beds which make up the Chest Pain Center, a special area dedicated to finding the cause of chest pain. The staff of the Chest Pain Center is specially trained to make quick and accurate diagnosis. They work closely with the cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other cardiac physician specialists on-staff as well as the staff of the Ronnie Green Heart Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center to coordinate fast, effective treatment. The Lanier Park Campus emergency room houses 11 beds, all designed to accommodate any type of patient including trauma, chest pain and general emergency situations. In 2007, the Lanier Park Campus emergency room served more than 18,000 patients.
